Cinema Bratstvo in Zagreb’s neighbourhood of Dubrava, cinema theatres in Trešnjevka such as Buhara, Triglav, or the factory cinema Končar, are only a few among the cinema theatres that have been closed down and even forgotten. Exploring the role of the polycentrically organized cultural production within the urban texture, we have organized an open-air cinema as part of UrbanFestival13 Back to the Square!, which should at the micro-level serve as a tool that will help reconquer the public space for collective use. In two Zagreb localities – Park Stara Trešnjevka and Stari Plac in Dubrava – the Hood Cinema will discuss the history of Dubrava and Trešnjevka through a film programme, opening up room for discussion on the processes of spatial transformation.
