FORGOTTEN YESTERDAYS

installation

9 - 13 September *** 1pm - 7pm

"The essence of the piece, the feeling, the atmosphere. It's a ghostly one, somewhat nostalgic but rather ephemeral than frightening. So what you will see are slithers from spirits, memories, thoughts in the form of the projections and you'll hear yesterday's voices, half-songs or whispered secrets, however very musical. angelic child choirs and music boxes.

Places are never really entirely forsaken. Slithers of the spirits that passed through them tend to get left behind, just like threads from a girl's dress or a cloud whispered on a window. Half a song, a small fragile sigh or an echo of an inspired conversation will fall through the cracks in the ceiling and remain there forever, sometimes joining other half-songs or muttered secrets in a choir made of those who stayed and those who half-left. We don't know if they're ghosts or just parts of people that are somewhere else. All we know is that they're here."

Kristin Bjork, also known as Kira Kira, is a founding member of Icelandic art collective Kitchen Motors. She is a musician, dealing in quirky electronica that sounds perhaps like something belonging to romantic old horror movies.

Magnus Helgason graduated from the AKI art academy ( Holland) in the year 2001 and has since been living and working in iceland. He works mainly with 16 mm and super 8 film as well as animation and stop-motion. "My drive is the joy of working and joy is also what I want to convey to the viewer of my work. I try never to do boring things."
