Volksrekorders is an artists' initiative based in the Netherlands with a collective interest in expanding the discourse of art in the public domain. 
Each member employs a dynamic position within the organisation and externally in his or her investigations in relation to the larger public sphere, using an expanded field of artistic processes: from performance and video to sculpture and design. These diverse artistic practices will converge into a series of daily video reports broadcast via the Internet-TV platform.
The seventh annual UrbanFestival, with an interest in expanding the notion of Michel Foucault's heterotopias, calls for an encounter with other spaces - contested places without clear social or functional boundaries. These places present interesting challenges that recede into the periphery and expose vulnerable gaps between everyday urban life and social development. These heterotopias permeate all sectors of urban life, through the slow concrete infrastructure into the more porous social and private body. In an attempt to reveal and contest the increasingly singular demarcations that paralyze urban dynamics, Volksrekorders has assembled an internet-TV platform in order to produce a series of video works that questions current social and urban conditions in Zagreb.
Volksrekorders want to see differences and utopia within the public domain. This internet-TV platform will ultimately create a public space that is porous and not divided. Volksrekorders want to record, archive, and react to the compelling raw energy, imagination, and speed of the everyday.
