Banner making workshop

Nina Bačun & [BLOK]

Approaching public square as a place of political confrontation, the program aims to create space for collaboration between a designer and political groups and initiatives which address some of the key social issues: neoliberalisation of labor law and pension system, exploitation of women, homophobia and contemporary fascism. Banners for upcoming demonstrations, especially for today heavily depoliticized International Women’s Day, 8 March, and May day, were conceptualized with members of Women’s network for labor and social rights, and embroided by Katarina Pejaković. With the members of White Angels, a football fan club of FC Zagreb which fights against homophobia and racism on stadiums, and in collaboration with Goran Jovanović, jerseys bearing a strong queer visual code were designed. In the next football season, they are to be worn on numerous matches which White Angels organize together with wards of asylum center in Zagreb, women, and other groups excluded from commercial football.

The program will be continued in 2015 with other activist groups.
