WAKE UP Upper Town

Urban interventions
Curtains, entrances to Upper Town (Zakmardi Stairs and Strossmayer promenade), throughout the duration of the festival
Garden on wheels, courtyard of Basaričekova 11, Saturday, October 2, 11 a.m.
Picnic, Vranicanijeva poljana, Saturday, October 2, 4 p.m.
Birthday party, Markovićev trg, Sunday, October 3, 7 p.m.

Curtains. Narrow pedestrian access road. Screenplay. Scattered scenography. Some new players. Upper Town as scenography, and the neglected public spaces as a stage for a show. The curtains are hung in all the entrances to Upper Town. They mark the border between the real and the artificial. The random passer-by is almost forced to look what is hidden behind them. Passing through the curtains, one takes the program booklet with the marked locations of various scenarios taking place. Planting the garden, picnic, party: the leitmotiv of all the scenarios is leisure. Seemingly spontaneous use of space. The random passer-by becomes an actor. He or she chooses the best scenario and willingly takes part in the show.

Join us on Saturday in a gardening action after which a garden on wheels will go touring other Upper Town courtyards.
We also invite you to a Sunday picnic – if you like it, you can do it again any time until the end of the festival, during which the lawn will remain set up.
On Thursday join us for the 10th anniversary and closing of the festival, accompanied by a musical performance of the group Vergl Grind on Markovicev Square!
